DUTIES of a First Aid trained Volunteer Responder:
- Become part of District EPAP team as part of FAST (First Aid Support Team): report to your Command Center & EPAP Coordinator and volunteer as First Aid responder during drills and emergencies when injury is reported (by Zone Captain to EPAP Coordinator) & medical assistance is needed. Take Medical Kit/splints and second person (driver/recorder/helper) and proceed to injured location. Treat/ report back to EPAP coordinator with disposition or additional help needed. Use Injury Report Form for recording findings/assessment/treatment/disposition/ etc.
- Know how to use Radio Communication and Protocol:
Hands on practice with radio at least quarterly - Know your Companion Districts: contact/ share medical personnel as needed. It is a good idea to set up and meet one another to share ideas, become comfortable with each other, establish rapport to ensure cooperation in sharing medical personnel resources in emergency situations.
- Medical Supply Kit: Be familiar with Kit contents.
CHECK kits at least quarterly & after each use; RESTOCK (use Checklist of Kit Supplies as guideline). Additional supplies kept at EOC. Contact EOC medical personnel to obtain additional supplies that need to be replenished. - Be FAMILIAR with LOCATION of AED /Medical Kits around Sun Lakes: MCH: by Kitchen; Ballroom: behind stage curtain (Bus room side); in hall to restrooms; SCH: Kitchen area; NCH: hallway next to restrooms, and in Administration and Pro Shop
