Sun Lakes Emergency Preparedness Organization

Emergency Preparedness Action Plan
As with any planned community such as Sun Lakes Country Club, we all need to be prepared for possible emergency situations. This could be small, such as a power outage, or a major disaster such as an earthquake. We might need to survive on our own until help arrives.
EPAP has a plan to cope with both natural and man-made disasters. This plan is the “Sun Lakes Emergency Preparedness Action Plan” as described in our MANUAL.
About our Plan.
Our Plan is carried out by hundreds of volunteer residents, who are trained to help in an emergency. Each of our 23 Districts here in Sun Lakes has an EPAP Coordinator who is in charge of emergency preparedness for the District; Zone Captains who check on their neighborhood to be sure residents are safe after an event; and Medical teams to help with first aid where needed. The Animal Rescue Group assists in finding and sheltering lost pets. Each District Delegate oversees the EPAP operations in your District and supports the effort where needed.
In addition, EPAP has an Operations Center staffed with trained personnel to manage and support our emergency response in Sun Lakes.
Here in Sun Lakes, we all support our Plan with regular drills and training events. By being prepared, we can help ourselves be more self-sufficient in emergency situations.
As concerned residents, we encourage you to join us in being prepared.
Here are three important items that you will need:
- Our MANUAL. The Emergency Preparedness Action Plan provides important information and recommended actions for all residents—prior to and following a catastrophic event.
It explains what EPAP is and how it works. - The FILE OF LIFE. A red magnetic plastic envelope (“File of Life”) containing a printed form for you, and EACH occupant of your home. Fill this form out completely, in pencil. (Your Zone Captain can provide additional forms.) Place the envelope ON your refrigerator, and update your personal information whenever it changes. This information will be vital if emergency responders are called to assist you.
- The RESIDENT STATUS PLACARD. This is a small piece of yellow or orange card stock with instructions for its use printed on one side. This is to be placed in a front facing window during an emergency or a Community-wide drill to let your Zone Captain know that you are OK, and do not need assistance.
